Why stop at Christmas trees and tinsel? Go the extra mile with your festive decorations this year by designing your very own Christmas Plant Pots. This easy DIY is great for all the family and will add that little bit extra to your décor giving it that magical Christmas feel.

Make sure your surfaces are well covered before you start - we used plastic bin bags but you can use anything you have to hand including newspaper or a dust sheet.

Begin by sanding down your plant pots - this will create a nice smooth surface for the paint to adhere to.

Take the Universal All Surface Brush Paint in the colour of your choice and give it a good stir. Now you can begin painting - we used the colour Lagoon Satin. You may need several coats to achieve the desired coverage. It will be touch dry after 2 hours however we recommend applying a second coat after 16 hours if needed.

If your using Universal All Surface Spray Paint (we used the colour Flat White Matt) make sure you give the can a vigorous shake before using and hold the can 30cm away from the surface when spraying. Recoat within 1 hour or after 24 hours.

Rust-Oleum Universal All Surface Paint is ideal for this project as it is an advanced paint and primer in one and designed for direct application to many surfaces.

When your plant pot is completely dry, take your Universal Metallic Paint in the colour of your choice and give it a good stir. When ready take your paint brush and begin adding your decorations - we chose to do snowflakes however you can do polka dots or anything that comes to mind!

Your pot will be touch dry after 2 hours, however we recommend leaving for 8 hours before handling. When fully dry, add some flowers and display with pride!

Don't forget to let us see your designs - you can share them with us by emailing us at info@paintpeople.co.uk - you never know, we may just feature yours!
