HOW TO APPLY
Your decking must be completely dry before you apply Firmtread Anti Slip Deck Coating. Do not apply in cold, damp conditions or if rain is forecast for that day. Lichen, algae and grease deposits should be removed for the best possible finish. You can give your decking a wash with water and a mild detergent and give it a good brushing with a stiff broom, but leave to dry thoroughly.
Stir the product well. Apply by brush or mini roller, wearing gloves. We recommend two coats for maximum protection. The more coats applied, the darker the final result.
Under normal temperatures above 15°C, Firmtread Deck Coat will be touch dry in 2-4 hours. You can recoat after 8 hours.
You will need to make sure your decking is completely clean from lichen, algae and grease. You can wash it with a mild detergent and give it a good brush with a stiff broom, leaving it to dry completely before application. For new decking we would also recommend abrading with a wire brush to create a good key for the product to bond to; make sure any loose debris are swept away.
The Anti Slip Deck Coating contains tiny particles which provide an anti slip finish, so your decking won't feel slippery when wet but it will still feel and appear smooth. We recommend abrading your decking to provide a good key for the product to bond to before applying the tint.
Firmtread Anti Slip Deck Coating is a stain, not a paint. It is designed to enhance the natural grain of the timber and tint it, rather than giving a block solid colour.

This product is usually applied to a timber surface and this can be quite porous. We recommend the surface is touch dry for a minimum of 24 hours before you consider applying the coating, otherwise any residual moisture in the surface could rise and stop the product from bonding correctly.
